The Switchback Showcase is a celebration of the outdoors. This multi faceted event is meant to inspire, encourage, and promote a love for getting outside. Whether you’re a full time avid hiker, or just looking to mix things up from your nine to five for the first time, this is for you.
The films we show about human powered travel are intended to be motivating and educational, showing how you can balance life with passion, push the limits of what is possible, and respect the unpredictability of nature.
Switchback Showcase Socal Edition will feature the films "Unsupported" by Jason Fitzpatrick, "The High Sierra Trail" by Outmersive Films, "Noatak: Return to the Arctic" by The Muir Project, plus a special behind the scenes film on the making of Noatak.
While we do share outdoor films at the showcase, we aim to go beyond the screen. We feature work from outdoor inspired photographers and artists, a discussion panel of influential voices in the outdoor community speaking on outdoor topics, Q/A sessions with outdoor filmmakers, presentations on our relationship with nature, tacos, beer, and live music. AND....The Switchback Showcase Socal Edition will feature a live musical performance by Opus Orange!!!!!
All proceeds are donated to Big City Mountaineers. An amazing organization that instills critical life skills in under-resourced youth through transformative wilderness mentoring experiences.
